At the young age of 15, Jono Davis has made his place in history as he has become the youngest ever winner of the prestigious NSW Champion of Club Champions Singles at the Rules Club Wagga.
After winning his Zone singles title for the 3rd year in a row, Jono Davis once again earned himself a place in the last 16 of the state.
Having fallen short in the last two previous years including a one shot lost in a semi-final, Jono wasn’t going to let this opportunity pass him by again.
Facing many classy players en route to this significant title, Jono faced an extremely tough challenge first up overcoming the very talented Zone 13 representative in Anthony Moran 31-30.
He then encountered tough battles against Zone 8 winner Peter Jones & Zone 2 Jarrod Duncan earning himself a place in the final against the extremely talented Jackaroo in the Zone 12 representative, Ray Pearse.
It what was always going to be a tough match up, Jono was able to get out to an early lead and maintained that lead throughout the match to earn himself the prestigious State Singles Title.
Jon Davis eclipsed former Australian Representative & Coach Cameron Curtis who won the title in 1988 as a 17 year-old as the youngest ever winner.
Congratulations to Jono Davis on outstanding achievement in his young career and the Team at Drakes Pride and wish the very best in his future endeavours.
